Long time no post...;)

Hey folks!

Nina is back! :P Well, I have actually never been away (except from being away in Canada :P), but you haven't heard from me in...let's say a little while.

But at least I've got more things to tell you now!

Let's start on last weekend (the days before was work - such a surprise ;) ). On Friday, the other intern (Menno) asked me for my plans for the weekend. To be honest: I had non at all. But well, Menno had. He was going to the Vancouver Giants game that evening! And as the Vancouver Giants just play like...almost infront of my house (5min walk), I decided to come with him and two other guys in his house spontaneousely (ugh I guess, I have written this word..not right :P)! And: It was the right decision! Okay, the Vancouver Giants lost against Victoria 4:2, but it was a fun game anyways :) I really like watching icehockey, it's a lot of fun (as soon as you see the puck :) ). And it was also really interesting as there were cheerleaders, a funny Subway game...:) Just a great experience. Although I prefer watching icehockey in Germany. Well. The games of the Roten Teufel Bad Nauheim ;) Don't know any others in Germany yet...

Here some impressions of the game:

To continue with the next day, Saturday, I have to tell you something about the tickets of the Giants game: With those tickets, you can go the following day after 2pm to Playland, the amusement park right next to the stadium. And Menno give me his, so I had two. Actually, for Saturday I had planned to just stay at home and chill, BUT in the morning I realised, I had that ticket! I asked my hostsister Julianna to come with me and she did :) We went there and had fun riding the rollercoaster and other great things. Although I got a little bit dizzy....;)

In the evening, we had a great dessert called "s'more". Cookie, marsmallow and peanut butter. Take a look at it. It's awesome!

And after that, we started to watch a trilogy called "Anne Of Green Gables" which is a really awesome movie. You should definitely look it up and watch it!

And on Sunday we watched the second part of it and that's almost everything I did on Sunday. ;) Oh wait. And I made another cover (Snuff by Slipknot):

Yeah. And the next day was Monday. And right now I don't know if there was something special. I don't think so. But I forgot sth. about Sunday: My hostmum baked really yummy meringues:

Sorry about all the food! ;)

But yesterday (Tuesday) there was something NOT about food :P But about music! :) There's a Jazz student in my house called Robyn and she has rented a room here as well. And she took part in a concert called "Kickin' The Mix". So I went there. Simple as that. And it was just a really great evening! :) Awesome!
A lot of different music :) I didn't take a lot of photos (but recorded almost every band :) ), but here is a photo of the stage to see how great the atmosphere was in that bar:

I'll tell you when I upload videos :)

Yeah. Great night! To say it again! Although it started like one hour later than planned ;)

And  today, it was a great day :) I shooted another clip for Language Barrier with Menno. I'll give you the link, as soon as we have uploaded it!

Today, I also did the camera for a shoot and it was a lot of fun. Hope I didn't mess up the footage though hahah :D

Okay folks. I am done now. For now.

You can look forward to a next post for sure! :)))

Bis bald,
Nina! :)

First episode of "Language Barrier" is out! :)

Hey everyone,

as I told you in the last post: The first episode of our (the other intern's and mine) new series "Language Barrier" is out! :)

Here it is! :)

Would be very happy about feedback! Share it! :) Spread it out to the world! ;)

See you!

Nina

Canada is beautiful! :)

Hey guys,

I haven't posted for a week or so, but...I am back again! :)

The reason, why I didn't post anything was...well, not much happened during the week. I mean, it's work. And it's fun. And of course, we did something, but it is basically the same every day (almost), so I don't want to bore you with this kind of stuff ;) But I have to tell you: It's a lot of fun and I am so happy that I have made the decision to come here! :) Believe me: Going in a foreign country for a certain time is one of the best things that can happen to you! :)

So I don't want to tell much about my internship here,  but one thing: The other intern Menno (who is Dutch) and I have started a project (small clips) that will be probably uploaded..TODAY! If so, I'll post it here as well! :)

Here you can see the "logo" of our project:

But: The most important and exciting things happen during the weekend!

One of my highlights yet was on Saturday: I went as a chaperone with one of my hostbrothers and his church youth group hiking on the Stawamus Chief! :) It was so beautiful! Canada is beautiful!

The view was like...perfect. You could see mountains, forests, the sea...you were even above the clouds! :) It was really exhausting to get up the mountain but it was definitely worth it! :) Totally!

Here are some photos:

You see....it's just a wonderful place to be..and the weather was all good with us...:)

We even saw chipmunks (Backen/Streifenhoernchen) there and we fed them with nuts! :) They are really really cute! :)) One of them even climbed on me to get to my nuts haha :D

I also took some videos on the chief, I might put them together and upload them one day! :)

So, the hike was pretty awesome! :)

And the evening was great as well, as I invited a few friends to my house and we were at the fireplace and ate marshmallows :) Afterwards we went to the bar ;)

On Sunday and Monday I also met up with friends and it was great :) I just love hanging out with my friends! :) Although it didn't really work with the timing neither on Sunday nor on Monday....:P

And why Monday? Wasn't I supposed to work?
Well, I was. But the intern and me got a day off because they might need us some other day :)

Okat, that's it for now.

See you next time! :)

Viele liebe Gruesse,
eure Nina :)

Having a good time! :)

Hey there :)

Another weekend has passed and it was just awesome :) I did a lot of things!

Let's just start on Friday. With AhornTV, we did an interview with the German producer, director and screenwriter Uwe Boll - you might know him from some of his movies like "Postal". That interview was a lot of fun!

In the evening, I met up with some friends and went to the Nightmarket in Richmond. There were sooo many ducks! (Ailien, you would have loved it! :D)

So this was my friday! ;)

On Saturday, there were a lot of things that happened although I didn't have any plans until the morning! :D
First of all, there was a Block Party, which was organized by my hostdad. There was also a fire truck and a police car and looots of kids!

This is one of my hostbrothers: Michael! :)

Afterwards, I met up with a friend and we went downtown (pretty spontanous :P).
It was awesome weather out there!
By chance, we got to see street musicians called "Sons of Granville". I had actually known them before and they are great! Check them out! :) (Just search on Youtube, but I might also upload a video! :) )

At home something unexpected appeared to me: I logged into my FB-Account at 5:30pm and I saw that my old hostfamily had written to me that they wanted me to be at their house at 5pm! So I called them and decided to go there anyways..and arrived at 7:10pm; ;) But I was there and had some good food! :D
We sang karaoke and played Dark Tag...it was a lot of fun!

So that was my Saturday!

On Sunday, I met up with Ashley for breakfast at IHOP :) It was great, very good pancakes haha :D

I also went shopping with her! It was great :)

So, almost done with my post! :D But there is something missing: Sunday evening! :)

My hostfamily had a meeting and party with their church at their house :) Very nice people and good food :D

Now it's Monday and I am tired. But it was a great weekend! :)

Viele liebe Gruesse,
Nina :)

First shooting! :)

Hey everyone,

yesterday, we went to the Burnaby Art Gallery to do some interviews! :) First shoot ever...! :)

In the gallery, the Art Gallery presents landscapes and potraits from Dutch artists like Rembrandt - pretty cool :)

We did various interviews and learned how to set up light, camera, sound etc...

Here are some impressions:

Today, we're going to another shoot! :)

See you soon! ;)

Viele liebe Grüße aus Kanada,
Nina

My last week :)

Hey!

I haven't actually told you what I have done so far, so I will tell you a little bit about my first days in Canada now. :)

I arrived on August 26th in Vancouver and got picked up by some really nice guys (Thanks! :) ).
The same evenig, I also got to know my hostfamily which is really great! :)

The next days, I kept meeting a lot of my old friends from High School - it was good seeing you all! - and got necessary things like my cellphone! ;)

On Friday, I went to "The Fair" at the PNE (an attraction park which is really close to our house) with three of my hostsiblings. "The Fair" is a big event with shows and concerts and so on. For example, we saw the Peking Acrobats. They were awesome! Those kids have such a crazy talent!

On the next day, I had another highlight of my time here so far: I sang Karaoke in the middle of Vancouver.
I must have been crazy singing "Pieces of me" by Ashlee Simpson, but....well...I got a panda for it, so everything's fine hahah! :D

So, that's it for now! :) I'll keep you updated!

Nina

Oh, and for the ones who would rather like to read German: Ganz liebe Grüße aus Kanada!! :)

It's a me! ;) - Nina in Canada!

Hey there,

I just felt like doing this...so I just did this! ;) So this is basically all what this blog is about: Me in Canada! :P

Best greetings from Canada! <3

In Canada? Again? Why?

Hello everyone,

As you can see, Nina is back in Canada! Some of you might think: Really? Another time? My answer to this is: Yes.

What am I doing here?

I am doing an internship at the AbcoFilmCorp in Vancouver.
Here you can find its website: http://abcofilm.com/
This company has also got a German-Canadian TV program called AhornTV. You can find its shows on youtube and the program also has its own website: http://ahorntv.com/

So I am going to do my internship here. I am here for 10 months and as this is my first day today, I am pretty excited! :)

So that's it for now!

From now on, I will try to keep you updated about my time here.

Oh, and as you can see, everything is in English right now, but if you'd rather like me to write in German, I could do that as well. Just give me a shout! ;)

Greets from Canada,
Nina
